The Village of Alert Bay invites expressions of interest for the provision of harbour attendant services at the Alert Bay Small Craft Harbour, Alert Bay Municipal Wharf, and Alert Bay Net Loft.
The Term of the Agreement will commence June 1, 2016.
The Services to be provided are as follows:
To perform twice daily (minimum) boat counts and occasional measurement/monitoring of storage space.
To collect all moorage, storage, and related fees owing, including daily and monthly accounts in accordance of Village of Alert Bay Bylaw.
To submit all moorage and parking fees collected to the Village office, recorded in a format prescribed by the Village.
To pursue delinquent/overdue accounts in cooperation with the Village office.
To respond to telephone and radio calls from parties seeking information or moorage (cell phone and VHF hand-held radio to be provided).
To provide information and instruction to all users of the harbour facilities concerning moorage, harbour bylaws, and general community information.
To ensure that all harbour regulations are followed within Village of Alert Bay facilities in accordance with Village of Alert Bay Bylaw No. 730.
To advise the Village office of any damages or deficiencies within the harbour facilities.
The harbour attendant is not to assume care and control of any vessel in the Marina.
The harbour attendant shall have his/her own transportation for the provision of harbour attendant services. The Village shall provide an office, workstation, fax/copy/printer, safety equipment, and all other items required to conduct the work.
The harbour attendant is responsible for ensuring coverage seven days per week, by themselves or another acceptable party to the Village.
Interested parties are invited to submit a proposal citing their relevant qualifications to the Village office, including a monthly cost for performing the services for this contract position by May 13, 2016. Preference may be given to proponents who can demonstrate knowledge of marina operations and marina management duties. Must be bondable – a criminal record check may be required.
